Issue 26 – What I’ve learned about coaching
Introduction: Did you spot the difference?
Do you remember Leadership Letter 26 when it came out? This is a revised version …
Why change it? Because I wrote Letter 26 as a general article on coaching and we tweaked it for the Salvation Army website. Then some of us got talking and we realised there wasn’t a suitable coaching book to follow the 7 Practices Of Effective Ministry, which some Salvation Army officers were using. We therefore decided to make this Letter (26) the introduction to a new coaching series and I wrote Letter 27 as the first main coaching Letter.
But the changed focus brought a different writing style, and when Letter 27 was written we realised Letter 26 was now stylistically out of sync with Letter 27 and those that would follow. So, we changed Letter 26 and now the whole expanding series will focus on coaching.
There’s certainly a difference between the two versions of Letter 26 and we hope you enjoy the revamped one and the Letters that follow.
Good reading … and great coaching!
