New Map Tool Assists Visitors to Salvation Army Website
The Salvation Army has launched a new interactive map tool on its website. This tool is accessible from the homepage by clicking on one of the two ‘find a centre’ links, or by going to www.salvationarmy.org.nz/centres.
‘The new map tool aims to make it easier for the public to identify their nearest Salvation Army centre to meet their immediate needs,’ said Major Christina Tyson, Territorial Communications Secretary.
A search can be narrowed further by typing in the location a user is travelling from. This will immediately take them to the closest specified Salvation Army centre to their specified location. It is expected this feature will be especially helpful for anyone needing to provide referral information.
When users click on one of the map icons, they’ll see a pop-up text box. The ‘find out more’ link in this box will either take them to a centralised information page for that service or to a more detailed page of information from the local Salvation Army church. Family Stores do not have a ‘find out more’ link as all of the information required is on the pop-up box.
The new map tool is the result of a partnership between The Salvation Army’s Communications Department at its Wellington Territorial Headquarters and web development company Pikselin.
Other recent online developments for The Salvation Army include dedicated websites for its HomeCare and Education and Employment services.
