Rugby Support | The Salvation Army

Rugby Support

This Red Shield Appeal we have been blessed to have the support from the Blues, Highlanders and Hurricanes.

Advertising, bucket collections at matches and opportunities to support via their corporate partners are some of the ways they are getting behind this years' appeal.

General Manager (Commercial) Chris Yeo says about this year's appeal:

"The Salvation Army provide such a crucial service in our community, delivering a wide range of programmes that provides support, assistance, advice and comfort for all Kiwis. It’s a service the Hurricanes are proud to support."

The Hurricanes amazing friends at Delivereasy have also come to the party to help raise money for The Salvation Army. The Hurricanes thank Delivereasy for helping raise $3,795 through this initiative.

From the Blues:

"We’re proud to be partners with The Salvation Army and it was great to be involved with them for our ‘Fill the Bus’ Christmas Campaign late last year.

Helping our community and supporting those in need is something we feel strongly about as a club, so to work alongside The Salvation Army and assist them in the good work they’re doing in the Blues region, aligns closely with our values."

The Blues will have bucket collections at Eden Park on Saturday 27th May (Blues vs Hurricanes) and Friday 2nd June (Blues vs Highlanders) to collect your donations. There is also an option to donate when purchasing your tickets for these games online, through Flicket.

The Highlanders Team said about their support:

"The Highlanders are proud to be supporting the Salvation Army Red Shield appeal for another year. We have seen first-hand the enormous amount of work the Salvation Army do and the remarkable impact they have.

They are not just delivering food packages they go above and beyond not just in our community but every community across New Zealand, Samoa, Fiji, and Tonga and the more we can shine a light on their hard work the better."

Please look out for the have bucket collectors on the 20th of May (Highlanders v Rebels) and the 26th of May (Highlanders v Reds). The 26th of May is our Red Shield Appeal game which we are very excited about as we will be auctioning off the players jerseys afterwards to raise money for The Salvation Army.
