Rugby Support

The Salvation Army is proud to team up with the Highlanders—two iconic names joining forces to support communities across the motu.
In 2025, our Red Shield will feature on the Highlanders’ kit, with game-day collections and campaign support helping raise funds for vital services like housing, addiction support, food security, and financial mentoring.
This partnership shows the power of teamwork—on and off the field—to back Kiwis doing it tough.

Highlanders v Fijian Drua – Saturday 12 April Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin
This weekend’s Highlanders vs Fijian Drua game is about more than rugby – it’s about hope.
We’re incredibly grateful to the Highlanders for their support of The Salvation Army’s work in Fiji, where the need is urgent and growing. From rising drug use to homelessness and the effects of natural disasters, communities in Fiji are facing real challenges.
Every dollar raised at the match, through bucket collections and an exclusive jersey auction, will go directly to our community programmes in Fiji.
As Lieutenant Sakeo Matakaruru from Lautoka, Fiji, shares:
“The Salvation Army is witnessing an increasing need in Fiji… The funds raised from this game will go a long way in ensuring The Salvation Army can continue its vital work. We are incredibly grateful for the support of the Highlanders, as well as the generosity of the public. Vinaka.”
All 23 Hulk jerseys worn by the Highlanders on 14 March will be auctioned on Trade Me from Thursday 10 April to Thursday 17 April – don’t miss your chance to own a piece of Highlanders history and support a great cause.
