Voting, your Part in the Future of Our Country

The 2020 General Election will now take place on 17 October, in the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic and economic recession. Times like these make it all the more important to consider what our role as active citizens in a democracy is, and why engaging in the political process is so important.

We hope that this paper with its outline of selected issues will help you to take your place as an active citizen of Aotearoa New Zealand. Download the 2020 General Election Issues booklet

Are You Enrolled to Vote?

There were an estimated 500,000 people not yet enrolled to vote in July – and more than half are aged under 30. Enrolling is easy – do it online at the VoteNZ website or call 0800 36 76 56 to have enrolment forms sent to you in the post.

We have produced a short video from our SPPU team about why you need to get enrolled and vote.
