About the Appeal

Bringing Hope to Homeless New Zealanders
Tonight, families across Aotearoa are sleeping in cars with nowhere else to turn. With around 120,000 New Zealanders currently experiencing homelessness—and the cost of living rising—the need has never been greater.
The Salvation Army is here to help. We walk alongside individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, providing emergency housing support, food, warm clothing, and wraparound care including financial mentoring, advocacy, and counselling—everything needed to rebuild a stable life.
Homelessness offers families nothing, no place to live, no place to call home. It leaves children sleeping in cars, moving from carpark to carpark most nights, while parents lie awake wondering what tomorrow holds. It strips away stability, dignity, and hope.
By supporting the Winter Appeal, we can help get more homeless people into warm, dry homes and give them the wraparound support they need.
