Each year, more than 120,000 families and individuals come to The Salvation Army for support.
For those Kiwis who feel they have nowhere else to turn, The Salvation Army brings hope. We provide a hand up to people living in poverty—those who are treading water, working hard and getting nowhere.
That’s why we need you!
Regular giving funds four fundamental pillars of our social service assistance programmes. For $35 a month, you can help provide:
Regular giving puts your compassion and empathy into action.
Your monthly gift can put a roof over families who would otherwise be in the cold, food in the mouths of those who would otherwise go hungry and provide access to wraparound services which can help vulnerable Kiwis get up, move forward and find hope again.
We never know where life will take us.
Sudden changes can happen to any one of us. For the first time, we could find ourselves in need of help. We may need food for our hungry whānau, help and support to become the best parent we can be or we may need to find a home for our family. And in those situations, a helping hand can make all the difference.
Please join us and become one of the everyday people helping others every day.
Frequently asked questions
What are the benefits of becoming a True Hero and committing to regular giving?
Regular giving allows us to plan for the future, and ensure that our key wraparound social services are available for all vulnerable Kiwis. It takes the stress out of giving, as the process is automatic, and you have different options when it comes to how you donate.
You are the people that we know are committed to helping those who are struggling in Aotearoa and you are very much appreciated.
You can view the latest newsletter for True Heroes here. Each edition is full of stories and feedback about our work around the country.
What happens when I decide to become part of the True Heroes regular giving programme?
When you become part of the True Heroes family, firstly, we will send you an acknowledgement for your records, and then we will keep you involved with occasional updates so you can read the uplifting stories from the people whose lives you are impacting. We won’t send you too much, we know that you want as much of your money as possible to get to where it’s needed, and so do we.
How can I donate?
You can set up a plan using a credit card or direct debit via our Join Now button. (This is a secure process managed by our friends at Flo2Cash.) You can view the direct debit terms and conditions by clicking here (PDF, 283KB)
